The Pala group of San Martino: a world heritage UNESCO site at high altitude

The privileged position of our hotel, a short walk from the city centre and a short distance from the main skiing area, makes it the ideal starting point to discover this varied and exciting territory.

Since 2009 the Dolomites and the Pala group have been listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites: the scenery they offer every day is a spectacular Alpenglow. Thanks to the composition of the rocks you can see them shining with nuances going from light rose to purple, depending on the time of the day.

The most appealing trekking routes

In the Dolomites, you will find many different trekking routes, from easy to hard.
The Rosetta plateau, nestled at 2600 m above the sea level, where once upon a time there was a barrier reef, is the starting point of many excursions that will lead you close to the Fradusta Glacier.

With over 600 km of routes going through the Pala Group, the Vette Feltrine, and the Cimon della Pala, it is here, that starting from the end of the ‘800, the first pioneers of mountaineering open fixed-aid climbing routes and paths that still nowadays are among the most spectacular trekking routes of the Dolomites.

We suggest:

  • The Trekking delle Leggende route, which reaches the Calàita Lake
  • The Trekking nel Lagorai, which reaches the pick of Colbricòn at 2602 m
  • The excursions at Colbricòn, Pradidali, and Welsperg lakes

A walk among history, culture, and culinary traditions

Spending your summer holidays at the mountain represents the perfect opportunity to discover historic sights, age-old traditions and taste the local cuisine.

A must-see experience is the renowned Dolomite Cheese Route, an experience which will take you through the valleys and will let you discover the excellent cheese choices of the territory. You will also enjoy many events that animate summer days, such as themed happy hours or tastings at high altitude.

At only 15 km from our hotel, there is Mezzano, one of the 100 most beautiful villages of Italy, that during summertime is worth a visit mainly for its en plein air concerts organised by the Music Academy of New York in its small alleys.

A lot of fun for the kids

Even a family vacation at San Martino di Castrozza can offer many amazing surprises for kids and adults!

Don’t miss to spend a day at the Agility Forest Adventure Park: a series of agility trails hanging between the treetops, of different level of difficulties, where fir trees that go up to a height of 30 m, will entertain kids and adults!
